Linnea Swarting is a professional dancer, dance teacher, writer, and arts administrator based in Nashville, Tennessee.
As a freelance dancer, Linnea has continually been employed by various companies around the world- appearing as a Soloist in classical works like Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and The Sleeping Beauty, as well as contemporary ballets on tour in North and South America, Asia, and Europe. Previously, Linnea danced professionally with Los Angeles Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Georgia Dance Theatre, and The Washington Ballet. She graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts High School Program and Boston Ballet School's Pre-Professional Division, and later completed her Certificate in Arts Management at the University of California Irvine.
As a writer, Linnea is a regular contributor to Pointe Magazine and created The Ballet Writer Blog as a platform for her dance writing.
With over 10 years of experience as a dance instructor, Linnea has taught ballet to students of all ages and levels- from creative movement to professional dancers. She has also led master classes across the country while touring, and staged both classical and contemporary repertoire. While dancing with Nashville Ballet, Linnea co-founded "Adaptive Dance: New Perspectives," a dance class for students of all abilities at School of Nashville Ballet. She continued this program at Georgia Academy of Dance, and the Georgia Dance Theatre community outreach performance series. Linnea is passionate about making dance classes and performances enjoyable, educational, and accessible to all.
